As an architect, Juan Carwell Jr. leads every design with the understanding that architecture begins with nothing tangible only vision, intention, and imagination. A significant source of inspiration for Peach Core’s work comes from music. Specific artists and songs have influenced the rhythm, mood, and spatial flow of many projects, particularly several developments in Detroit. The Brown Sugar album by D’Angelo most notably the songs “Smooth” and “Jonz in My Bones” played a major role in shaping the tone and atmosphere behind those designs. Their smoothness, depth, and layered emotion translated into architectural concepts that feel intentional, balanced, and expressive.
Additional musical influences include Icewear Vezzo (“Six and Daisy”), Payroll Giovanni (“Addicted to Results”), 112 (“Call My Name”), Clipse (“P.O.V.”), and Horace Brown (“Things We Do for Love”). These works helped inspire the form, pacing, and energy behind several mixed-use projects, influencing how spaces transition, interact, and coexist within a single development. As an architect, drawing inspiration from multiple sources is essential. When designing at scale and over time, projects can begin to look the same to the designer long before they look the same to the world. To avoid repetition and complacency, inspiration must come from everywhere music, culture, movement, environment, and everyday life.
